Reaching Towards Warmer Suns is a public work originally installed along the banks of the Powhatan River (James River) in Richmond, Virginia where some of the first enslaved Black people touched land in the new / ruined world. The work was deinstalled by park rangers because of the lack of permit. Currently, an expanded version of the work is on view in Monuments Now: Call and Response at Socrates Sculpture Park in NYC.
